Allergy Injection Education

Always wait 20 minutes after every allergy injection.

  • Show the nursing staff your injection site before leaving the office
  • Do not get an allergy injection if you have a fever of 100.0 or higher
  • Wait 24 hours before getting your allergy injection if you have received any other injection (Ex: immunizations, flu, etc.)
  • Wait 24 hours before getting an allergy injection if you've been stung by a bee, wasp, etc.
  • Strenuous exercise should be avoided for at least 2 hours before and after any allergy injection.
  • Notify nursing staff immediately if you start having any new allergy symptoms after you get your allergy injection (Ex. runny nose, itchy eyes, etc.)
  • Do not get an allergy injection if you are having increased asthma symptom (Ex: significant wheezing or any other breathing difficulties).
  • Please notify nursing staff of any significant local reactions or any increase of allergy symptoms within 1-2 hours of your injection at the time of each injection. (Ex: Local reactions: swelling the size of a quarter or larger.)
